ABOUT THE COMPETITION

We are passionate about Abu Dhabi and we love photography. Our aim is to encourage people to use their talent for photography to help us celebrate Abu Dhabi through brilliant images.

If you enjoy photography – whether it’s a profession or a hobby – we invite you to get out and explore Abu Dhabi and to capture the spirit of the Emirate with your camera. Then simply sign-up on our website and upload your images to enter.

4th – 10th place will receive AED 10,000
3rd place gets AED 20,000
2nd place wins AED 35,000
This year’s top prize, for 1st place, is AED 50,000!

THE STUDENT AWARDS

This year, the competition has a category especially for those studying at schools and universities in the UAE. We encourage student photographers of all abilities to submit their images to this category and be recognised for their talents.

THE AWARDS CEREMONY

The official Awards Ceremony will be held in early September. Further details will be shared soon. The ceremony will be a spectacular evening with special guests, to celebrate shortlisted and winning photographers.

STYLES OF PHOTOGRAPHY

We encourage submissions of all kinds of photography styles. We want you to use your unique talents and creativity to celebrate Abu Dhabi as you see it. This could be through the beauty of nature or the marvels of city architecture, a look from a person or a leap from an animal. If you met someone who had never been here, what image could help you to describe the spirit of Abu Dhabi?

RULES

Photography Competition: Conditions of Entry
  1. Participants must submit Entries at www.abudhabitye.com using the online submission form.
  2. The student category is open to students within the UAE only. A student ID must be submitted with submission form.
  3. Students are not permitted to enter both the main category and the student category. Any entrants found to have entered both will automatically be disqualified.
  4. Entries must be submitted by 18:00 on 15th July 2016. Late entries will not be accepted.
  5. Individual photographs should not be submitted more than once.
  6. Participants can submit a maximum of four photographs. Please note each photograph requires a separate online submission form.
  7. Incomplete submission forms or absence of required information may disqualify the Entry.
  8. Entries must be submitted as a digital file of sufficient size and resolution for the Judges to assess the sharpness and quality of the image.
    9. a. We recommend a minimum size of 1800 x 2700 pixels
  9. This is a photography competition, not a photoshop competition! Photographs must be free of any borders, watermarks or signatures and must not be digitally enhanced.
    10. a. Normal balancing and toning of a digital image is allowed
    b. Images may be cropped before submission
    c. Other digital alterations or manipulations to images are not permitted
  10. The competition is open to both professional and amateur photographers.
  11. The competition is open to UAE citizens, residents and visitors.
  12. Employees of General Secretariat of the Executive Council & Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority are not permitted to enter. Any entries submitted will be disqualified.
  13. Submitted photographs must be the original work of the participant and must not have been previously published.
  14. All photographs must be taken in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi
  15. Shortlisted entries will be notified by phone or email.
  16. Participation in the competition is the Participant’s sole responsibility.
  17. Participants must take note of the UAE photography laws when taking photographs. Participants must refrain from from taking photographs of military bases or any unauthorised photography area in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
  18. All Participants submitting an Entry agree to provide ADTYE the copyright of their image. By submitting their Entry, Participants automatically agree to this term.
  19. For Winning and selected Entries, Participants will receive notification to confirm the copyright in exchange for the prize value.
  20. For non-selected Entries, Participants will receive notification to confirm that images will not be reserved under ADTYE copyright.
  21. Any commercial entities wishing to use non-selected images for commercial purposes will negotiate a separate usage fee directly with Participants (through ADTYE).
  22. The decision of the Judges is final.
